Tim Van Laere Gallery brings a last goodbye to the current gallery space with a group show including Kati Heck, Adrian Ghenie, Jonathan Meese, Franz West, Rinus Van de Velde
In April 2019, Tim Van Laere Gallery will move to a new 1.000m2 building designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, opening in April 2019 (see here for more info). But before the doors of the current gallery space close permanently, Tim Van Laere brings a last goodbye to the space that hosted all of his exhibitions for the last 20 years.
The exhibition, entitled The Last Waltz (For Leon), presents the majority of artists who have shaped the gallery over the past twenty years - often with striking exhibitions. Big names such as Kati Heck, Adrian Ghenie, Jonathan Meese, Rinus Van de Velde and Franz West are participating, but also emerging talents like Tomasz Kowalski, Ben Sledsens, Ryan Mosley or Anke Weyer.
And although all media are represented in the exhibition - sculptures, paintings, drawings, film and photography - this group show also shows the similarities between the represented artists: an expressive, energetic and free style, often filled with humour and even quite rebellious.
The Last Waltz (For Leon) marks an important new step in the gallery’s ambition: the gallery will trade the space of the Verlatstraat for a new building designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, located on the Nieuw Zuid in Antwerp.
